Buck's Hunterboy Roy
May 9,1991 ---- December 5,2004

I had a friend who wanted a Brittany and didn't want to wait for my
litter. So I contacted Theo Whetzel at Willow Branch Brittanys to see if
she had any pups. She sent me a photo of 3 male pups. Meanwhile my
friend didn't wait and went out and bought one. Well I like the way
the pup in the middle of the picture looked and I purchased him
and I named him "Roy" after my grandfather. Roy was a natural since day one. He was pointing and retrieving at
14 weeks old. I remember in Dec.91, my buddy who had a shooting preserve needed
me to guide. My guide dog was in heat and his dog was old and under the weather.
I was a little nervous about using "Roy " because up until this
point I'm the only one who had ever shot over him. The first bird
when up and the 4 hunters shot at the bird. "Roy " got 31 birds
that day on a 25 bird hunt. He found 6 extra's and I was Proud of my 7 month old pup. Over the years any one who
had seen him hunt knew he was a good bird dog. Dozen's of puppy
buyer's who stop by to buy females changed their minds after seeing
"Roy" He's the reason why we have a fine kennel of dogs today and
pups in 28 states. I shot over 1000 birds over this dog and I'm
heartbroken. He will be missed. He was a True Briitany!!!! A Special Thanks to Theo Whetzel for giving me the once in a
lifetime Brittany |
